Member Of Global Compact

The United Nations Global Compact asks companies to embrace, support and enact, within their sphere of influence, a set of core values in the areas of human rights, labor standards,the environment and anti-corruption. Since signing the UN Global Compact in 2009, Tarkett haspromoted progress on all 10 Principles through its commitment and actions and its stakeholderrelationships. Tarkett has reached the Global Compact Advanced level, demonstrating itscommitment to translate and implement into practices the Global Compact Principles.

Safety: No Compromise

At Tarkett, safety is our highest priority. Our commitment to social responsibility starts with safety, so we create a true dynamic of training and ownership at every level of the company. Safety training throughout our organization is a requirement for every employee, adapted to the workplace environment in which they operate. Systematic implementation of safe practices and behavior is driven though our World Class Manufacturing methodology, which continues to be deployed throughout our plants worldwide. Our safety program is also reinforced through internal auditing and Executive Committee review of individual accident reports. Safety really is a value that is shared on the plant floor everywhere Tarkett operates

OHSAS 18001workerAn occupational health and safety management system (OHSMS) promotes a safe and healthy working environment by providing a framework that helps organizations to: consistently identify and control health and safety risks; reduce the potential for accidents; aid legislative compliance; and improve overall performance. OHSAS 18001 can be aligned with existing ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management systems. Historically many organizations start with a quality management system (ISO 9001) and then add the environment management requirements from ISO 14001. They then look at their health and safety risks and add OHSAS 18001.All of our plants in North America have met the OHSAS 18001 specifications.

This Standard provides a practice for assessing the sustainability of resilient floor coverings. Sustainability-related information can inform a manufacturer’s decisions about supply chain modifications, product content changes, manufacturing adjustments, performance improvements, end-of-life options, and corporate governance, with the goal of producing more sustainable products.

This Standard addresses environmental performance and sustainability attributes (including social aspects) of products, and provides a means to track incremental changes to the products’ sustainability profile. This Standard is intended to provide a consistent framework in which to compare and assess the sustainable nature of different products within the context of performing similar functions.

Through NSF certification Tarkett has reached out to their key suppliers and has required having disclosure of their environmental and social responsibility programs. Tarkett must demonstrate that it does not engage in or support discrimination in the employment process. This includes Tarkett itself and all of their key suppliers.
